Fellow Brothers and Sisters:
My name is Christopher Tackson, I am a firefighter/EMT with the City of South Burlington Fire Department Local 3671, of which I have been employed for four years. On October 26th, 2008 I will be running the Marine Corps Marathon as one of fifty members of the IAFF Burn Foundation Marine Corps Marathon Team.
The IAFF has been the driving force behind nearly every burn safety advance in the fire and emergency services in the past 25 years. Since it was founded, the Burn Foundation has awarded more than $2 million to burn research grants. Foundation funded research has been published in several professional medical journals and has greatly improved the treatment, recovery, and quality of life for burn victims. The Foundation is solely funded through donations from citizens, businesses, and organizations. The Burn Foundation supports not only citizens, who have been burned, but also fellow firefighters and emergency responders.
Due to the support this Foundation provides to citizens and firefighters, I have elected to become part of this great cause. It is my goal to raise $1500.00 for the IAFF Burn Foundation by October 26th, race day. I am asking you for donations in my name to this great cause that impacts us all.
